The newly formed ‘Newtownbreda Community Association’ recently organised a competition for local schools.  Pupils were asked to research the area of Newtownbreda and also, to design a logo for the Association.  A winner was chosen from each participating school.  Oliver Fleming, P6B, was delighted to be selected as the Cairnshill winner.

All the award winners were invited to the Four Winds Inn on Wednesday, 19^th March for a presentation of prizes.  Oliver received a lovely Sony digital camera donated by Tesco Newtownbreda.  Our school also won a camera as we had entered the most designs from all the local schools - this was a lovely surprise!  The logo design chosen as the overall winner was created by a pupil from Newtownbreda High School; this logo will feature on all the Association’s publicity.

Oliver, his family, Mrs Graham and Miss Bingham enjoyed the evening, especially the cake displaying the winning logo.  We are all very proud of Oliver’s big achievement and his winning design certainly demonstrates his love of the Newtownbreda area.  Well done, Oliver!

Congratulations to everyone who submitted entries for our 'Extreme Reading' photography competition - you gave the judges a very difficult job!  There were lots of fantastic photos which showed our pupils reading in some very interesting ways.  We had people reading in the bath; on top of cars and sheds; upside down and even under their bed.  There were readers skiing, skateboarding, playing rugby and doing gymnastics.  Some of our pupils chose to read with animals - dogs, chickens, calves and even a snake!  

It was fantastic to see such variety and creativity from everyone - well done!  We hope you enjoyed the challenge and that you'll keep on reading but perhaps not in such extreme ways.
