  • Sports Days

    Thu 28 May 2015

We're sorry that the weather didn't enable us to complete our two Sports Days this week.  We try to set dates well in advance so that parents who want to attend can make the necessary arrangements, however, this means that we can't base our plans on up-to-date weather reports.  As I'm sure you realise, a lot of preparatory work has to take place before both our Sports Days and, if at all possible, we try to hold events on the planned dates.  Sometimes, as this year, the weather simply doesn't allow us to do that!  On other occasions, we've managed to 'dodge the showers' and complete Sports Day even when the weather reports haven't been particularly favourable.  If there is another opportunity to invite parents to a rescheduled Sports Day, we'll send a note home with the children.

  • Liverpool FC - photograph

    Wed 27 May 2015
Congratulations to Mr R Aspin who was the highest bidder for the signed photograph of Liverpool FC player, Jordan Henderson.  Many thanks for your donation to the 'Helping Hands' charity in memory of Jamie Foat.
  • Know any Liverpool FC fans?

    Mon 18 May 2015

Are you a fan of Liverpool FC?  Do you know any fans?  Perhaps you could support this very worthy cause.

We were all devastated when we heard the tragic news of Jamie Foat's road accident during the Easter holidays.  Jamie was a much loved and valued P7 pupil at Cairnshill as well as being an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club.

Liverpool FC, in response to a request from school, has donated a signed colour photograph of Jordan Henderson, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity.

We thought the most effective was to raise money for the 'Helping Hands' charity (charity chosen by the Foat family) would be to request sealed bids from our Cairnshill community with the highest bid winning the photo.

Please send sealed bids, marked with your name and contact number, to Mrs Graham by Tuesday 26th May.  The winner will be informed on Wednesday, 27th May.

If you know anyone outside of our school community who is a keen Liverpool supported, please invite them to bid for the photo too; our aim is to raise as much money as possible.

  • 'Jeans for Genes' - 'Denim Donor' status

    Fri 15 May 2015
This year, 'Jeans for Genes Day' celebrates its 20th birthday.  As part of their birthday celebrations, they are awarding 'Denim Donor' status to their top three fundraising schools.  We're delighted that, as supporters of 'Jeans for Genes Day' for fifteen years, Cairnshill Primary School has been recognised as one of these three schools.  There will be further information about this award in the lead up to the next 'Jeans for Genes Day' in September 2015.  Many thanks to all our past and current pupils who've helped us raise funds for this very worthwhile charity over many years.
  • P7 Trip to Loch Insh

    Sun 10 May 2015

The P7 pupils recently enjoyed an action-packed week at Loch Insh Watersports in the Scottish Highlands.  The trip began early on a Monday morning with everyone meeting at school at 6am!  Aboard the coach, everyone was in good spirits as they looked forward to a busy week ahead.  After the ferry crossing, we travelled through Scotland enjoying some stunning scenery along the way.  We even managed to eat our packed lunches outdoors.

We arrived at Loch Insh in the afternoon, found our dorms, unpacked, had tea and then enjoyed an evening of orienteering.  This was a great way to find our way around the Loch Insh site - once we figured our how to read the map!

The rest of the week was full of fun and laughter.  The five different activity groups - lions, tigers, pumas, leopards and jaguars - all took part in a range of activities:- kayaking, canoeing, wind-surfing, raft-building, sailing, orienteering, mountain-biking, skiing, archery problem-solving and a trip on the Loch Insh tour boat.  We experienced all kinds of weather, even some snow!

Overall the trip was a fantastic experience and we were sad to leave Loch Insh when it was time to go home.  Thanks to the instructors who made all the activities such good fun.  Check out the P7 Year Group page to see some photos or have a look at the video at the link below to see just a little of what went on.

  • Meeting re Parking

    Sat 09 May 2015

Unfortunately the Parking Meeting last term had to be cancelled due to a power cut in school.

This has now been rescheduled for Tuesday 12th May at 7:00pm and will be held in the Assembly Hall.

The safety of our children is of paramount importance. Inconsiderate and often unsafe parking, mostly from parents and/or carers is putting pupils at risk. We hope to tackle this ongoing problem constructively but we need the support of parents. We would urge you to come along to the meeting if you are available.
