Looking for a P1 or Nursery place for Sept 2024?
We'd love to see you at our Open Afternoon or Morning. Come along, with or without your child, and see around school, meet the staff and learn more about life at Cairnshill. You're also very welcome to come along if you're looking for a place for an older child. Everyone welcome!
As you will be aware, the school have completed a Case for Change with regards to Integration. This document was completed in conjunction with Council for Integrated Education NI (NICIE) and was passed on to the Education Authority in May 2023.
In May and June 2023, the Case for Change and subsequent Development Proposal were issued to affected schools for their consideration. There were no objections and three letters of support.
Currently, the Development Proposal is open for public consultation for a statutory two-month objection period. The consultation closes on 19th December 2023.
During this period, anyone can issue letters of support or objection and these will be passed to the Department of Education in the New Year.
The next stage for the Development Proposal is to be passed to the Department of Education and then ultimately the Minister for Education or Permanent Secretary for their final decision.
Parents will be kept informed of the next stages when updates are made available to the school.
In November 2022, over 88% of our current families voted in favour of Cairnshill transforming to an Integrated School. We are currently working on the formal Development Proposal which will be submitted to the Department of Education in due course.
Are you considering enrolling your child at Cairnshill Primary School?
If so, it would be helpful if you could complete an 'Expression of Interest' form. This will help us demonstrate that future pupils may come from a variety of religious backgrounds or practice no religion.

It was great to welcome prospective parents and children to our Open Afternoon in December. If you missed it, or have further questions, we'd be delighted to see you at our Open Morning on Tuesday, 10th January from 9.15am-10.45am. You don't need to make an appointment, just come along and some of our fantastic P7 pupils will show you around. If this doesn't suit, please phone or email to arrange an appointment at another time.
Our parental ballot has now closed and the results are:
88% of parents voted YES for Integration in a 63% turnout.
We will now work closely with the Integrated Education Fund, Council for Integrated Education as well as the Education Authority to create a development proposal which can be submitted to the Department for Education.
It is hoped that if the development proposal is successful, Cairnshill PS will become an Integrated PS for September 2024.

We are delighted to announce that the website link is now available for the Families First Key Worker Awards. Cairnshill Primary School along with Mrs Currie have been nominated for these awards. Please follow the link and write a comment on how the school was able to provide for children and parents during the periods of lockdown.
Winners will not be based on the number of votes but judged on the comments and individual stories that have been left. It is lovely to be acknowledged for the work that was put in during this time. Thank you to all who have supported the school and continue to do so.
Family invites re class Seesaw accounts will be sent home today or tomorrow. If you already signed up last year, you do not need to do anything - your details will be linked to your child and their new class. If you are new to Cairnshill, please download the Seesaw app and follow the instructions on the page your child brings home. Seesaw have made some changes and it's now much easier to manage sibling accounts. It's a good idea to keep the page for reference purposes as you may need it if you get a new phone or tablet or wish to sign in on a different device. Multiple parents/carers can use the page to link themselves to a child's account.
Many thanks
In line with DENI guidance, school will be closed to all pupils on Monday 19th September to mark the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Another school year has come to an end (a year like no other!). Teachers will soon be archiving their Seesaw classes so you'll not be able to contact them via Seesaw. The school email account: info@cairnshillps.belfast.ni.sch.uk will be monitored over the holidays so, if you have an urgent need to contact school, please use that. (It may not be checked daily but will be monitored regularly.)
If you wish to keep a record of all your child's work on Seesaw, you can download their learning journal. Full instructions are available at the link attached. There's no rush to do this - you'll be able to download it at any point over the next few months.
Many thanks
