Additional Resources for home learning:-

Staff are providing a weekly programme of activities for each year group but, we're aware that with restrictions on what you can do and many parents working from home, there are times when some other ideas are welcome. The following list is just a few suggestions of other activities which may be beneficial for children. (We'll attempt to keep it updated as best we can. Information correct at end April.)

BBC Bitesize

The BBC are working with a range of educational partners to provide three lessons per day for each year groups. A full schedule is available on their website. Lessons can be watched later on iPlayer.

Jane Considine ‘Sentence Stacking’

Jane Considine is an experienced teacher and literacy consultant who is providing a daily video lesson on writing. Children are encouraged to join the live lesson at 9.45am, watch a short digital movie and then write 9 sentences which cover a ‘chunk’ of the story. If you wish, you can share your child’s writing online. Jane combines some of her favourites and creates a final version which is shared each afternoon. If you aren’t able to join the live sessions, the activities can be completed later. All links are on her Facebook page:-

C2k Newsdesk

Newsdesk and Newsdesk Junior are resources provided to schools in NI through the C2k managed service. There are usually 3 news or topical stories published each weekday with discussion questions and an online forum. This is a great way to get children reading and writing each day.  The Junior Newsdesk is aimed at children in P3 & P4; the main Newsdesk is for children in P5-P7. To access the Newsdesk, children should login to MySchool with their C2k username and password and select Newsdesk from the app panel on the right of the screen.
