Anyone who has been around our school site over the past couple of weeks will have noticed the the construction work for our new classroom is now underway. It began with the removal of the 'glass corridor' before the diggers moved in to begin work on the foundations for the new extension. We briefly had a new school 'fountain' when a digger unexpectedly encountered a water pipe but this was quickly brought under control!
Everyone is getting used to our main building now being in two parts though we're looking forward to being 'reunited' at the end of the construction work. Some of the P7 pupils have been photographing the work so that we have a record of the various stages along the way. Keep an eye on the 'Gallery' to view the progress.
Occasionally it is necessary for school to close during periods of extreme weather. This decision is not taken lightly but it is important that we put the safety of our pupils and their families first.
Should we have to close early on a day when children are at school, you will receive a text message informing you of this. Please ensure you inform us of any change to your mobile number.
If heavy snow or severe weather conditions mean that school will be closed all day, this information will be communicated in various ways:-
- we will request that BBC NI post this information on their website.
- information about closures will be posted on the home page of our school website.
- information will be tweeted on the school Twitter account - @cairnshillps
- the NI Direct website www.nidirect.gov.uk/list-of-school-closures will also have details added.
Hopefully these measures will mean that everyone is kept up-to-date regarding any closures and you can be fully informed of when school will reopen.
