Fri 05 Feb 2016Our topic this term is all about 'Transport'. This week we have been busy looking into the future and using our imaginations to design 'The car of the future'. We worked in pairs to come up with lots of unique features for our cars and thought about how cars could be improved. We were extremely creative in our creations, with lots of bright and wonderful car models.We also had the opportunity this week to travel through space! Jennifer from Nerve Belfast supported us with this. We were using 'Scratch Jr' on the iPad to design a space scene. We worked with our partner to pick a suitable space background and space vehicle to travel through space. We were able to programme the vehicle to move around the moon. Some of us were even able to record our voice counting down for take off.We have had lots of fun exploring different types of transport this week!

'Wear it. Beat it' Day
Fri 05 Feb 2016Cairnshill turned red (even more than usual) on Thursday, 4th February. The aim was to raise awareness of the importance of keeping your heart healthy as well as fundraise for the British Heart Foundation. From red clothes to hair accessories to glasses and wigs - there was lots of red to be seen around school. Lots of pupils also enjoyed a 'red themed' school dinner. 'Sticks and Bricks' with P2T
Tue 02 Feb 2016In P2, this term our topic is Sticks and Bricks. Our Playroom has been transformed into a Construction Zone and P2T have been busy planning, designing, building and much more! In our Imaginary Zone we have an architect’s office where we can design a building. The builders then have to go to the Builder’s Yard to buy the materials they need and then finally they can begin to build in the Construction Site. The builders have been experimenting with different materials and different building methods. In the Creative zone we are using shoe boxes to create our own model houses, we have painted the walls and put in our carpet in the different rooms and later we will fill our rooms with furniture. These are only a few of our exciting activities!
