Our very first Cairnshill ‘Walking Bus’ was held on a very wet and windy Tuesday 11th November. This event was organised in conjunction with Sustrans for children in Primary 3 and Primary 4, who were invited to join our Walking Bus as it made its way from two local departure points. The weather on the morning was miserable to say the least but it was really encouraging to see the support which we had from so many of the pupils and parents. Spirits were not dampened too much by the weather and a really pleasing number joined us at various points along our route to school. One group met at the shops at Newton Park whilst the other group gathered at the shops at Commons Brae. After making it up the hill and arriving safely into school, the children who took part were provided with a healthy snack before they headed off to their classrooms to dry off. Hopefully our next Walking Bus which we plan to run for children in Primary 5-7 will be blessed with a much drier day! A big thank you to all those who braved the weather to join in, we all had great fun and enjoyed a little extra exercise before we started our busy day in school.
