Latest News from P6B

The Viking era has most definitely made an impression on our P6 pupils. After a superb trip to Navan Fort last Friday, where the children gained a wealth of knowledge, they are now ready to construct their own Monks’ prayers of protection to fend off the evil berserkers. The pupils discovered that Armagh monastery was attacked three times around 1200 years ago. Thinking skills will be used to consider how Vikings would trade, raid or settle, depending on various factors.

Much excitement is gathering as the Lego Movie maker app is used to create Viking raid animations. These movies will recount the events in an inspiring and creative way. Pupils will retrieve information from Viking “sagas” and will sing some Viking voyage songs to sense the energy and power of the sea warriors as they rowed along the ocean.

As part of our Fractions topic in Maths, we will be designing dragon headed long boats to display equivalent fraction families.

This week also focuses on the awareness of anti-bullying and we will take time to consider how the feelings of others need to be valued.

It looks like P6 will be very busy but enjoying their learning along the way!
