We were delighted to welcome Education Minister John O'Dowd, Junior Minister Emma Pengelly and MLA Máirtin Ó'Muilleoir to school today, along with other representatives from the Department of Education and members of the local press.
During their visit, they were impressed by our school choir who performed for them. Our visitors also had time to visit a number of classrooms and learn about the great work which goes on in Cairnshill. We had the opportunity to discuss the need for a new school building with the Education Minister and were delighted that he is in agreement with this. We are keen to improve the facilities that we offer our pupils and a new-build could also solve the on-going parking and access issues. Obviously there are many other schools who also need new buildings so, while the Minister's words are encouraging, there are still hurdles to overcome.
MLA Máirtin Ó'Muilleoir shared his views of his visit to Cairnshill on the Sinn Féin website:- http://www.sinnfein.ie/contents/38553
