Mrs L Campbell - A Tribute

It was with very great sadness that we learnt of the sudden and untimely passing of Mrs Lynne Campbell on Wednesday, 18th February 2016.

Mrs Campbell was appointed as Vice-Principal and P7 teacher in Cairnshill in October 1987 and took up the position in January 1988.  She took over as Acting Principal in September 2007 on the retirement of Mr A B Gilliland.  Mrs Campbell held the post of Principal until she took early retirement during the 2014/15 academic year.

During her years in Cairnshill, Mrs Campbell made significant contribution to school life.  Firstly, as a P6 and P7 classroom teacher, she expected high standards from all her pupils.  Children were encouraged to work hard and achieve success across the curriculum.  Mrs Campbell was also greatly involved in extra-curricular activities and coached hockey after school.  She participated in and led many residential trips for P6 and P7 pupils, both within Northern Ireland and further afield.  Many hundreds of pupils remember her fondly as someone who supported and encouraged them in their final years of primary school.

Cairnshill has lost a valued friend and colleague and we extend our deepest sympathy to Lynne’s family circle.
